Jan Vojtěchovský teaches at the Faculty of Restoration, University of Pardubice, Czech Republic since 2007. Between 2012 and 2021 he had been the head of the Studio of Conservation and Restoration of Wall Paintings, Sgraffiti and Mosaics there. In 2025 he returned to this position again. He had supervised numerous BA and MA thesis in the studio. In 2019 he involved the conservation of mosaics into the studio study plan of the studio, so the Faculty of Restoration became the first institution providing the education in this specialization in the Czech Republic. Between 2021 and 2025 he was the vice-dean for international cooperation at the same institution. He joined the board of ENCORE in 2022.

His main research topics are consolidation of wall paintings with nano-lime suspensions and historic wall paintings techniques. He has participated and lead several research projects linked mainly to above mentioned topics. He is an author or co-author of peer-reviewed publications linked to these and other topics linked to wall paintings, sgraffiti, and mosaics survey and conservation. He studied wall paintings and sgraffito conservation in Litomyšl (1997–2002) and easel paintings conservation in Bratislava (2003–2005). In 2017, he defended his Ph.D. at the Czech Technical University in Prague. Beside his teaching practice, he works as a freelance conservator since 2002.
